Orientation days at SU:

The International Office at Stockholm University, together with the International Exchange Coordinators at the Student Union, host the Stockholm University Orientation week during the week before the autumn term / during the first week of the spring term.

During the Orientation days, a variety of activities are offered such as a welcome pub, guided tours of the university campus, as well as general information about studying at Stockholm University.

Housing:

We strongly advise you to apply for student housing, due to the difficulties in finding accommodation in the Stockholm area. Unfortunately, exchange students are not guaranteed student housing, since the number of incoming exchange students may exceed the number of student rooms available each term. Available accommodation will be allocated through a lottery among students who have applied in time on the registration form sent out by e-mail to all nominated exchange students. More information about housing.

Remember that finding private accommodation in Stockholm may be tedious and hard work. It may also cost you some extra money for staying at a hostel/hotel until you find accommodation. Since the housing situation is so severe in Stockholm, we ask you to think about whether to postpone your studies at SU in case you do not receive a student room.

Students should also be aware that some advertisements on the internet offering housing may be hoaxes/scams. Please practise good judgement and be careful when answering ads for second hand flats/rooms on the internet.

Handbook for Exchange Students

The International Exchange Unit at Stockholm University produces a Handbook for Exchange Students, with practical information for your stay at SU:
