Vanessa Sternbeck Fryxell

Vanessa Sternbeck Fryxell successfully defended her thesis “Essays on Interbank Markets” last week. Opponent was Falko Fecht, Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.

The interbank market is where banks with a liquidity deficit borrow from banks with a liquidity surplus. The loans are often short-term and unsecured, i.e. no collateral is pledged. Her dissertation consists of three self-contained chapters, all which deals with the interbank market. The purpose is to learn more about the banks’ behavior on this specific market and to demonstrate some potential problems.
